Fungal Infection

Fungal infections can affect various parts of the body, including the skin, nails, and mucous membranes.

  1. Nail Fungus (Onychomycosis): Fungal infections of the nails, especially the toenails, can lead to discoloration, thickening, and brittleness of the nails.

  2. Candidiasis: This yeast infection can affect various parts of the body, including the mouth (oral thrush), genital area (vaginal yeast infection), and other moist areas. It can cause itching, redness, and discomfort.

  3. Tinea Versicolor: This fungal infection affects the skin and is characterized by patches of discolored skin that can be lighter or darker than the surrounding skin. It is caused by yeast on the skin.

  4. Fungal Scalp Infections: Certain fungi can infect the scalp, leading to conditions such as tinea capitis. Symptoms may include red, itchy patches on the scalp, hair loss, and sometimes the formation of pustules.
